How much time is involved in being a Master Gardener Extension Volunteer?
MGEV Candidates must complete 50 hours of classroom learning, which includes passing a mid-term and final exam. Once this is complete, you must complete 50 hours of volunteer hours in approved Fulton County Extension projects before becoming a certified Master Gardener Extension volunteer.
After completing the coursework and first 50 hours of service, MGEVs must contribute 25 hours of service on approved projects each calendar year to remain active.
What do our Master Gardeners do?
The purpose of the MGEV program is to assist UGA Extension in providing unbiased horticultural information through consumer horticulture programming and volunteer community service.
