Leadership

4-H Club Officers

  • Each of our Fulton County 4-H Clubs offers youth the opportunity to be a 4-H officer. This experience teaches 4-Hers how to run a traditional club business meeting, provides a regular opportunity to practice and engage in public speaking, and teachs youth how to manage a group.

Elementary School Leadership Opportunities

  • 4-H Clover Conference- NEW! This  October, 4-Hers have the opportunity to travel to Rock Eagle for a special leadership day just for 5th graders!

Middle School Leadership Opportunities

  • 4-H Day at the Capitol (7th & 8th grades)    Each winter 4-Hers have the opportunity to tour the state capitol, visit with state leaders, and see government in action.

  • Junior District Officer (7th & 8th grade)    As a district officer, 4-Hers have the opportunity to lead their peers and work with adult advisors to plan and carry-out district 4-H events. 4-Hers must participate in Project Achievement in order to be eligible to run as a 4-H district officer.

  • Leadership in Action (7th & 8th grade)    This youth led project promotes the work of 4-Hers in the community. 4-H'ers will identify an issue or need in the community or an issue related to agriculture or the environment. Once this issue or need has been selected, the 4-H'er will determine ways to make a difference and then enact his/her plan. The process focuses on leadership engagement by the 4-H'er.

  • Junior Rally (6th-8th)   Annual spring leadership conference for 6th-8th grades; typically held in April each year

  • State 4-H Council (8th grade only)    This annual constitutional meeting of Georgia 4-H which includes the 4-H Citizenship Ceremony, peer-taught educational and service workshops, share fair, Iron Clover Competition, and state officer elections.

  • Southern Teen Leadership Conference (8th grade only)    The Southern Region Teen Leadership Conference is a regional multi-state 4-H conference created to bring together 4-H teens and adults to empower and inspire them to make a postive change across the southern region through youth-adult partnerships; typically held in September each year.

  • Junior Conference (6th-8th)    Annual fall leadership conference for 6th-8th grades; typically held in November each year

High School Leadership Opportunities

  • Teen Leader Training-    Leadership trainings are offered each year for high school students to equip them with the skills they need to lead a group of their peers and to design and lead activities for younger youth.

  • 4-H Day at the Capitol-  Each winter 4-Hers have the opportunity to tour the state capitol, visit with state leaders, and see government in action.

  • Senior District & State Officer-  As a district officer, 4-Hers have the opportunity to lead their peers and work with adult advisors to plan and carry-out district 4-H events. 4-Hers must participate in Project Achievement in order to be eligible to run as a 4-H district officer.  State 4-H officers represent Georgia 4-H at a variety of events and functions including 4-H Day at the Capitol, galas, conferences, and University of Georgia College of Agriculture and Environmental Science events. 4-Hers must participate in State 4-H Council in order to be eligible to run as a state officer.

  • National 4-H Conference-    Held annually in Washington, D.C., National 4-H conference provides participants the opportunity to engage in personal development experiences that increase their knowledge, resources and skills which they discuss topics affecting youth nationwide. The conference empowers youth to create positive change in their communities and give them the opportunity to practice and apply their skills in a real-world setting. Interested youth must apply through Georgia 4-H and be selected through a competitive process to participate in this event.

  • Senior Conference-    Annual spring leadership conference for 9th-12th grades; held in April of each year

  • Cloverleaf Camp Teen Leader-    High school 4-Hers have the opportunity to gain first hand experience leading younger youth as a teen leader at 4-H summer camp.  Teen leaders assist counselors with camp activities and assist adult chaperons with overseeing cabins.  4-Hers must complete Teen Leader Training in order to be elibigle to assist as a teen leader at summer camp.

  • Citizenship Washington Focus-  Every summer, high school students from across the country travel to Washington, D.C. to participate in Citizenship Washington Focus (CWF), 4‑H’s premier leadership and citizenship program for high school students. CWF is more than a Washington, D.C. field trip – it’s an opportunity for 4‑H’ers to learn how to be citizen leaders and make a difference in their communities. CWF participants enjoy a behind-the-scenes look at our nation's capital and the chance to meet members of Congress, develop communication, leadership and citizenship skills through hands-on learning and group activities, and build new and lasting friendships.
