In School 5th Grade Programming

5th Grade In-School Program

The 5th Grade Program in Henry County supplements the school's Georgia Standards of Excellence and is introduced to all students in the fifth grade. An Extension Agent or Program Assistant will come to the 5th grade classrooms once per month. The program assistant will conduct hands-on science, STEM, or language arts lessons for the following explorations areas: Public Speaking, Georgia Barrier Islands, Electricity, Inherited Traits, Chemical Reactions and many more.

Each student will present an illustrated speech in class choosing from a list of 50+ different project areas. They will also have an opportunity to compete in our County Project Achievement Competition in January. If they place 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or 4th place at the county level, they will then be able to compete at the District Project Achievement Competition. Only 1st and 2nd place in the food lab category will advance on to the District.
