Poultry Judging

What is Poultry Judging?

Poultry judging is an evaluation event in which 4-H’ers demonstrate their acquired knowledge of poultry and egg production and marketing by applying it to a real-life decision-making situation. In this competition, participants are expected to: (1.) judge both live specimens and market poultry, (2.) identify parts of birds already prepared for market and (3.) evaluate eggs as to their quality and readiness for market. For at least one class, typically a live production class, participants must be prepared to justify their placing decisions through a set of oral reasons.
