Journeyman Farmers Certificate Program 

January 26, 2024 - The Journeyman Farmers Certificate Program Small Farm Business Planning Class 9:00am – 4:00pm in collaboration with the UGA Small Business Development Center and will cover topics such as balance and income statements, budgets, and financing.  The program will be held at the UGA Extension Henry County Office located at 97 Lake Dow Road, McDonough, GA 30252. February 1 – 3, 2024 -  The Journeyman Farmers Certificate Program Fruit and Vegetable Production Class that covers a multitude of subjects relating to crop production.  It covers topics such as soil health and fertility, cover crops, pest control, food safety, and marketing. Participants will have the chance to visit a working farm as part of the program.  It will be held on Thursday, February 1, 2023, 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, Friday, February 2, 9:00am am to 4:00 pm, and February 3, October 7, 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. The presentations are given by UGA specialists with accompanying textbook and other materials. The program will be held at the UGA Extension Henry County Office located at 97 Lake Dow Road, McDonough, GA 30252. The cost is $100.00 per participant. Georgia Pesticide Applicator Licensing

January 11, 2024 – The University of Georgia Extension Henry County is offering a webinar to help prepare those who are planning to take the Georgia Pesticide Applicator Licensing Exam in Category 41 Mosquito Control to pass it. The workshop will cover ONLY the Mosquito Control section and NOT the Core Manual (General Standards). 8:00 am to 2:00 pm via Zoom Conferencing. For those who already have the license, five pesticide applicator recertification credits will be offered in Category 41 Mosquito Control. The cost is $50.00 per participant. Three-Day Beekeeping Class

February 20 – 29, 2024. UGA Extension Henry County is offering a three-day course on the basics of beekeeping. Topics include how to get started in beekeeping, equipment, bee biology, honey extraction, and other topics.  The instructor is Mr. Tom Bonnell, a local beekeeper. Program Schedule: Each day we will offer the program once in the afternoon at 1:30pm to 3:00pm, and again in the afternoon 6:30pm to 8:00pm covering the same topics. Ornamental and Turf Licensing Exam Training

February 23, 2024 - UGA Extension Henry County Category 24 Ornamental and Turf Licensing Exam Training - UGA Extension Henry County is offering a program to help prepare those who are planning to take the Georgia Pesticide Applicator Licensing Exam in Category 24 Ornamental and Turf to pass it. Southeastern Green Industry Update
