About the Artist

Tyler Sims is the 4-H president of the Richmond County 4-H County Council. He is a sophomore
at Davidson Fine Arts Magnet School where he ranks top in his class. He lives in Augusta, GA along with
his younger brother, who is also a 4-Her, his parents, and his three dogs.
Tyler believes in giving back to the community through volunteering. Since joining 4-H in 6th
grade, he has hand-drawn hundreds of cards to be delivered to local disabled veterans. Last year, he
took this 4-H service project a step further when he organized a monthly visit to the local Veteran
nursing home where he and his fellow 4-Hers could get to know the people that they had been sending
cards to for years. During the monthly visits to the Veteran’s nursing home, he passed out cards and
candy while getting to know the residents. Even with the pandemic, Tyler found a way to continue his 4-
H service by starting a pen pal program with a retirement facility in Georgia. Other 4-H service projects
he has been a part of include the Adopt-a-Spot trash clean up, Paging for the senate during 4-H Day at
the Georgia Capitol, and Game Day at the Walton Green Retirement Community.
Besides volunteering, Tyler enjoys many forms of dancing, including modern, tap, and ballet. He
has ranked several times at 4-H DPA and the 4-H mini-booth competition at the exchange club fair. Tyler
is passionate about his academics and plans to go to college to become an engineer.

Keeping Augusta Beautiful recognized Richmond County 4-H Club as October 2020 Volunteer of the Month!

Congrats 4-H!
