• Sep 12 Richmond County 4-H Gardening Club The Richmond County 4-H Garden Club is open to students in 2nd-12th grades, who are interested in gardening, agriculture, and pollinators. It is led by Augusta Area Master Gardener Mrs. Joy Brown. The garden club members will participate in hands-on activities such as planting seeds, seedlings, caring for garden beds, identifying pollinators, harvesting fresh produce, and learning how healthy soil and plants support our community. Meetings are held at Belle Terrace Presbyterian Church Community Garden, located at 2473 Golden Camp Road, Augusta GA 30906, once a month on the first Saturday at 8:00am-9:30am, during the months of May-October. The garden club will meet from 10:00am-11:30am during the months of November-April. IMPORTANT INFORMATION: SEPTEMBER AND OCTOBER'S MEETING WILL BE HELD ON THE SECOND SATURDAY! • Sep 12 Richmond County 4-H Small Animal Club Small Animals Club is open to 4th-12th grade students who are interested in learning about small animals, such as guinea pigs, rabbits, goldfish, parakeets and hamsters. Members will learn basic care for a small pet. If you already have a small animal pet, excluding cats or dogs, you are welcome to bring your small friend to the meeting. If you do not have a small pet, that is okay! We will help connect you to the perfect pet. Small Animals Club will meet 10am-11am on the second Saturday of the month in September, October, November, January, February, March, and May at the 4-H Clubhouse located at 2413 Willis Foreman Rd., Hephzibah, GA 30815. • Sep 12 Richmond County 4-H Poultry Club Poultry Club is open to 4th-12th graders who are interested in learning about all of the critters that fall under the poultry category. What is Poultry? For most people, we think of chickens, but there are other birds included in this category: turkeys, ducks, geese, quail, pheasants, ostriches, and many more. Learn about the wonderful world of poultry and how to care for and feed your birds. Poultry Club will meet 11am-12:30pm on the second Saturday of the month in September, October, November, January, February, March, and May at the 4-H Clubhouse located at 2413 Willis Foreman Rd., Hephzibah, GA 30815. There is no registration fee for the first year of Poultry Club. Dana McCart is the Poultry Club leader. Winnie Garrett is the 4-H Program Assistant for Poultry Club. • Sep 15 Richmond County 4-H County Council County Council is a 4-H opportunity for 6th-12th grade students who are interested in engaging activities, leadership experiences, and community service opportunities. County Council will meet the third Tuesday of each month, 5:30-7:00pm in the 4-H Clubhouse at the former Willis Foreman Elementary School, 2413 Willis Foreman Rd., Hephzibah, GA 30815. • Sep 19 Richmond County 4-H Fishing Club Richmond County 4-H Fishing Club is open to students in 4th through 12th grades. No experience is necessary. Come have a fun morning of fishing at Brickyard Ponds! If you have equipment, bring it, if not you can borrow ours on a first come first serve basis. Bait will be provided. If you want to keep the fish you catch, bring a container to take them home in. Fishing is free for children only who fish with the 4-H group. If adults want to fish you must stop by the office at Brickyard Ponds to pay. Follow the 4-H signs to our fishing spot. 4-H'ers must be with the 4-H group for the 4-H’er to fish for free. If you fish beyond the 4-H designated area while at Brickyard Ponds you will need to pay at Brickyard Ponds office for everyone that is fishing beyond the 4-H group's area. • Sep 19 Richmond County 4-H Horse Club Horse Club is open to 4th-12th grade students who are interested in learning about horses. Horse Club will meet (rain or shine) at 10am-12noon on the third Saturday of the month in September, October, November, January, February, March, and May at Appaloosa Acres located at 3617 Hopson Mill Road in Blythe. Horse Club will host many events, including activities with a farrier, a veterinarian, an expert on draft horses, and an expert on nutrition for horses. We will learn basic care and knowledge of horses, such as parts of a horse, grooming, tack and feeding. It is suggested you wear boots or any closed toe shoes that you don't mind getting dirty. A $10.00 annual registration fee is due for each participant.
