The University of Georgia Richmond County Extension Office is located in historic downtown Augusta. Our staff includes a full-time Agricultural Agent, Family & Consumer Science Agent, 4-H Agent, and an Expanded Food & Nutrition Educator, plus several program assistants and two administrative assistants. Does Richmond County Extension offer soil and water testing?

Yes, Richmond County Extension Office accepts soil and water samples in our office, then we ship the samples to be tested at the UGA lab in Athens. We offer a variety of soil and water tests. Please review the UGA testing schedule for a listing of the many types of analyses offered through our lab services. *Please note that prices in the fee schedule do not include postage and therefore do not reflect county testing prices. Prices and availability of testing services are subject to change. Contact us at 706-821-2350 to inquire about pricing and availability of test kits.

The most common soil test is the S1 (Routine Test) which tests soil for levels of pH, Lime, Phosphorous, Potassium, Calcium, Magnesium, Zinc, and Manganese. We charge $8.00 for each S1 soil sample submission. We accept payments of cash, check or money order payable to Richmond County Extension. We are open Monday-Friday, 8:30am-5:00pm. It takes approximately 7-10 business days for S1 soil test results to be returned from the lab. Follow our soil sample instructions for guidance on pulling a proper sample.

 

Does Richmond County Extension offer a Master Gardener class?

What ages can participate in Richmond County 4-H Club?

Richmond County 4-H currently offers programming to youth in 4th - 12th grades. Honey Bee Removal License Training

Georgia Department of Agriculture requires licensing of any person who removes swarms of honey bees from any structures, & who charges a fee for the service. Attendance of an 8-hour training is required. McDuffie County Extension Office is offering training June 8, 8:00am-5:00pm. Registration costs $25 and includes lunch and snacks. Free Summer Activities

Free 1-hour summer activities brought to you by Richmond County 4-H. Contact the host facility listed below to register for these programs. Tie Dye participants must bring something white to dye, like a t-shirt, socks, shorts, a pillowcase, etc. Open to all ages. Adults must accompany children under 7 years old.

  • Jun 8 Honey Bee Removal Specialist Certification Training To provide the highest level of consumer protection, the Georgia Structural Pest Control Commission updated the state regulations to create a state certification category for honey bee control and removal. Before the amendment, the regulations required a household pest control license to remove honey bee colonies from structures. This rule applies to the professional control and removal of an established colony in a structure. Part of the state certification program requires attendance of an approved 8-hour training program. With this notice we are inviting you to the Putnam County Extension Office on June 8, 2023 from 8:00 AM until 5:00 PM to be part of this training.
