Bonaventure Cemetery Projects

Master Gardener Extension Volunteers in Chatham County support the camellia collections and entrance gardens in Bonaventure Cemetery, an historic cemetery that dates back to 1846. Bonaventure is a Victorian cemetery featuring wandering paths under old growth trees and marsh-side views of the Wilmington River. It was a picnic destination for families while also a place of comfort for the bereaved. In addition to hearing about the history of this site, you'll hear from Master Gardeners about their ongoing projects, including the care and propagation of historic camellia varieties and a newly-installed native plant demonstration garden. Think this cemetery sounds familiar? You might remember it from the book, Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil. PLEASE NOTE: This is a walking tour. Participants will need comfortable shoes, sunscreen, bug spray, and water. Meet your tour host in the ANdAZ lobby at 12 pm and walk to the Montgomery St. trolley stop for 12:30 pm pick up. Trolleys cannot wait at the stop. If you are late, you will miss your tour. Tour returns at 4:30 pm.

Historic Savannah Trolley Tour

Enjoy a 75-minute trolley tour of Savannah’s historic district, including the famous squares, River Street’s cobblestones, iconic live oaks dripping with Spanish moss, and more! Meet your tour host in the ANdAZ lobby at 1:30 pm and walk to the Montgomery St. trolley stop for 2:00 pm pick up. Trolleys cannot wait at the stop. If you are late, you will miss your tour. Tour returns at 3:30 pm.
