What is UGA Extension?

The University of Georgia (UGA) Exension office operates through a unique partnership with local county governments, the state of Georgia and the U.S. Department of Agriculture. We translate the science of everyday living for farmers, families, and communities to foster a healthy and prosperous DeKalb county.
 
For more than a century, we've provided research-based education through a network of committed specialists, agents and volunteers to help Georgians learn, grow and do more.

  • Jun 1 - Aug 12 Applications for the 2026 Northwest Georgia Master Naturalist Program are available The Georgia Master Naturalist Program is a hands-on environmental education course that explores Georgia's habitats and ecosystems and the human impacts on these environments. This 9-week program consists of weekly field trips with in-depth lectures from experts on a variety of environmental and ecological topics. Transportation can be arranged for limited number of participants from one of the three host counties. The program days are from 9:00am to 4:00pm, not including drive time. Registration is complete once you have completed the online application and paid the fee in full through the Cobb County Extension Office. Space is limited and registration will remain open until August 12 or when all spaces are filled. You can mark your calendar for these program dates: August 27-Master Naturalist Orientation, Fridays in September: September 11, September 18, September 25. Thursdays in October: October 1, October 8, October 15, October 22, October 29-30-Overnight-Charlie Elliott Wildlife Center

  • Jul 22 Cloverbud Day Camp Calling all of our students who finished Kindergarten through 3rd Grade! Cloverbuds will participate in making crafts, playing games, and so much more. We’ll have special guests from around the community visit us and even take a field trip to one of our local Fire Stations. Lunch and snacks are included daily. Both weeks of Cloverbud Camp, the activities will be the same. There is a maximum of 12 participants for this event. The registration deadline is July 13, 2026.

  • Jul 22 Rockdale Eats a Rainbow Rockdale Eats a Rainbow is BACK this Summer! Join us on Wednesdays at the Rockdale County Extension Office for mystery ingredient demonstrations, taste-testing opportunities, fun take-home activity packets, and free produce for each family (while supplies last). Each week, the mystery ingredient will match a color of the rainbow, encouraging families to explore new foods, try fresh flavors, and learn simple ways to add more color to their meals.
