What is UGA Extension?

The University of Georgia (UGA) Exension office operates through a unique partnership with local county governments, the state of Georgia and the U.S. Department of Agriculture. We translate the science of everyday living for farmers, families, and communities to foster a healthy and prosperous DeKalb county.
 
For more than a century, we've provided research-based education through a network of committed specialists, agents and volunteers to help Georgians learn, grow and do more.

Our regular office hours are 8:30 am- 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. These hours are subject to change during holidays.

We’re on a mission to sponsor 20 students for an unforgettable 4-H Summer Camp experience! For just $440 per student, we can provide a week of hands-on learning, leadership development, and lifelong memories. Many students in our community may not afford this opportunity without your support. How You Can Help: - $440: Fully sponsor one student’s camp experience. - $220: Provide half the cost for a student. - $100, $50, or $25: Contribute to the general camp fund.

Pre-order pickup will take place on Friday, April 10, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 5:30 PM at the Rockdale County Extension Office, 1127 West Avenue SW, Conyers, GA 30012. Bring home plants you’ll love while making a meaningful difference for Rockdale County 4-H.

  • Mar 17 Garden to Jar: An Introduction to Home Gardening and Food Preservation "Garden to Jar" is an educational program designed to help participants understand how to grow their own food and safely preserve it for year-round use. This class blends home gardening fundamentals with evidence-based food preservation practices to support healthy, sustainable food habits. Participants will learn basic gardening concepts and essential food preservation principles. This collaborative program is presented by the University of Georgia Extension Family & Consumer Sciences Agent and the Agriculture & Natural Resources Agent, ensuring participants receive research-based information on gardening and food safety. "Garden to Jar" is ideal for beginning gardeners, home food preservationists, and anyone interested in connecting the garden to safe, practical food preservation at home. The cost of the class is $5. Each participant must register separately.
