S.A.F.E. Shooting Sports

What is Project S.A.F.E. ?

4-H Project S.A.F.E. (Shooting Awareness, Fun and Education) Programs are designed to help our youth develop unique life skills that will allow them to learn safe and responsible firearm practices as well as sound decision-making skills, self-discipline, and concentration.

The program promotes responsibility, decision-making and identifying realistic, personal goals. Participants may elect to compete at a level appropriate for their abilities or pursue other objectives. Participants have shown high achievement in the field, shop or classroom and on target range, but personal development for young people and leaders is the real objective. The program strives to "make the best better."

Like other 4-H projects, S.A.F.E. has a subject matter base. It has strong links to natural resources, wildlife, outdoor recreation and safety. The content is drawn from sports medicine, psychology, education, biological and physical sciences engineering, mathematics, technology, as well as American traditions, folklore and history.

4-H Archery

4th-12th Grade (Current team is full! Check back in June 2025 for registration information for the next year.)

Our 2024-2025 Archery Team will begin registration for new Archers on July 17, 2024, at 7:30AM. Completion of this process does not guarantee your child's spot on the team! There are very limited spots for new team members and this online process ensures they are filled in the order of registrations received. You will receive an email from Susan Mamrick or Heather Haines informing if your child has a spot or is on our wait-list.

Forsyth County 4-H SAFE Shooting Sports Archery is open to all youth, 4th-12th grade, regardless of experience. Our team practices at Ducktown Park from August through April/May on Sunday afternoons from 2:30-5pm.

4-H’ers practice weekly and have the opportunity to compete in outdoor and indoor matches. They can shoot compound or recurve bows. The club offers beginner recurve and compound bows, but to continue in the club and progress they will need to purchase their own bow. The team is coached by trained volunteers.

4-H BB Team

Our Team is full for the 2024-2025 season. Please check back in late summer 2025 for registration information.

Forsyth County 4-H is excited to resume the S.A.F.E. Shooting Sports BB Team in 2024! The Forsyth County BB Team is a volunteer run program. All of our coaches have been certified by UGA to teach youth. The program is open to 4th-9th grade students in the current school year. Each child is scored individually and the scores are totaled to make a team
score. Each shooter has the opportunity to place in competitions individually or as a team depending on their final scores/team total score.
We practice on Tuesday evenings, 7-8pm, at our 5110 Piney Grove Road office. This club requires a parent stay and assist their child during practice. No drop-offs are permitted. Our 2024-2025 team is capped at eight youths. In the future we may expand the number of youth who can participate.
