4-H Horse Club

file

Our Horse club, led by volunteer Patty Sloan, provides a place for the youth of Cherokee County who are interested in horses, a place to belong and learn. In our monthly meetings we provide knowledge, information, training and experience in everything equestrian! Our youth led club helps horse loving youth develop leadership abilities, teach responsibility and encourage teamwork. Cherokee Chargers 4-H Horse Club is about fun, horses, friendships and good sportsmanship in a friendly atmosphere that encourages doing your best!

At meetings horse loving youth gather to have fun sharing experiences, learning from each other and planning horse centered events and community activities. Horse shows, horsemanship clinics and community outreach are just a few of our hands on events!

Are you required to own a horse to join? No, not everyone in the club has a horse! The club does not provide horses, but we have plenty to do and learn without one. Many have joined the club to be near horses and explore whether they might be interested in owning one. Our club is a great place to start learning and meeting people who have horse knowledge and contacts.

We have great opportunities to compete on horse knowledge teams:

  • Horse Quiz Bowl - Junior (4th grade - 8th grade) Senior (9th -12th grade)

No horse required – just an inquiring mind and determination to learn.

Youth in 4th-12th grades are welcome to come to a meeting and check us out! Call 770-721-7803 or email awitcher@uga.edu for more information.
