Story in Brief

UGA food scientists worked with food producers to find value-added products, additional marking and revenue opportunities for Georgia peanut farmers. The Center for Agribusiness and Economic Development conducted a feasibility study for a processing facility to make P2B, a peanut powder. After seeing the center's research, local farmers invested in the facility. Amenities were offered by the local development authority in Fitzgerald, Ga., and investments funded to retrofitting a building and purchasing equipment. According to the company's latest stockholder newsletter, the company has reached a point where investors will start receiving "a true value for their investments in time and money." The Board of Directors along with General Counsel is registering the stock with the SEC for public trading. Their stock began being publicly traded in mid-November.
