Story in Brief

Southern Stem Rot, commonly known as white mold, can severely affect peanut yields if favorable conditions are met. If left unchecked, white mold can destroy a field of peanuts. In 2006, Cook County peanut fungicide research demonstrations conducted by the UGA Cooperative Extension agent and Extension plant pathologist proved that Arisan fungicide had much greater efficiency than other fungicides conventionally used for white mold control. About 95 percent of the growers surveyed used Artisan fungicide in their peanut fungicide program. Observations indicate that there was a definite increase in white mold infestation where Artisan was not used or not applied timely enough. According to the 2007 applied research demonstration, there was a 15 percent yield increase where Artisan fungicide was applied.
