7th - 8th Grade
Junior District Project Achievement (DPA)
Build Confidence. Discover Interests. Grow Skills.
Junior District Project Achievement (DPA) is a signature 4-H experience for 4th–6th grade students. Youth choose a topic they’re passionate about, create a short presentation, and share it in a fun, supportive environment.
What Youth Gain
Through DPA and 4-H, participants develop:
- 🎤 Communication Skills – Speak clearly and confidently
- 🧠 Critical Thinking – Research, organize, and present ideas
- 💪 Confidence – Build self-esteem through achievement
- ⏱ Responsibility – Practice goal-setting and follow-through
- 🌱 Personal Growth – Discover their interests and “spark”
Why It Matters
DPA helps young people gain real-world skills that prepare them for success in school, leadership, and future careers, all while having fun and building friendships.
Get Started
There’s a place for every child in 4-H—whether they love animals, art, STEM, or public speaking.
More Details
Junior 4-H'ers are invited to spend a weekend at Rock Eagle to compete in DPA. Junior 4-H'ers are middle school students, grades 7th and 8th grades.
To attend, 4-H'ers must first turn in a portfolio, worth 40% of their total score, detailing their relevant project work and other activities competed during the previous calendar year.
Next, 4-H'ers will prepare a 7 - 9 minute long speech, worth 60% of their total score, with visual aids to present to their peers and to judges during the competition in March.
District Board of Directors Opportunities
During JR/SR DPA, JR 4-H seventh graders 4-H leaders who meet eligibility requirements are able to run for District Board. Running for District Board amplifies the overall DPA experience. Campaigning, hitting the campaign trail outside Sutton Hall at Rock Eagle and throughout the Rock Eagle campus, brings 4-H to a 'whole other level." If elected, District Officers serve through the following DPA event, planning, leading and attending key 4-H events during the year and representing the Northeast District and Oconee County 4-H.
