Consumer Judging
What is Consumer Judging?
Cotton Boll and Consumer Judging allows 4-H'ers to learn how to make smart and rational decisions when purchasing goods and services, all while maximizing resources. Each year, four different classes of goods or services are chosen for closer study. 4-H'ers will learn how to read a situation statement, and decide which items are best for the consumer in question. Factors influencing these decisions may include the conumer's age, gender, available money, lifestyles, school or job status, preferences, or other requirements that depend on the items given and the situation statement.
In addition, 4-H'ers will learn about cotton as an agriculture commodity. They will showcase this knowledge in a brief presentation. 5th - 8th grade 4-H'ers will create a 30 second commercial about cotton, while 9th - 12th grade 4-H'ers will prepare a 90 second Public Service Announcement about cotton.
