Consumer Judging
What is Consumer Judging?
Cotton Boll and Consumer Judging allows 4-H'ers to learn how to make smart and rational decisions when purchasing goods and services, all while maximizing resources. Each year, four different classes of goods or services are chosen for closer study. 4-H'ers will learn how to read a situation statement, and decide which items are best for the consumer in question. Factors influencing these decisions may include the consumer's age, gender, available money, lifestyles, school or job status, preferences, or other requirements that depend on the items given and the situation statement.
In addition, 4-H'ers will learn about cotton as an agriculture commodity. 4-H'ers showcase this knowledge in a brief presentation.
- 5th - 8th grade 4-H'ers create a 30 second commercial about cotton
- 9th - 12th grade 4-H'ers prepare a 90 second Public Service Announcement about cotton.
