The Georgia Master Gardener Program® is an Extension volunteer training program offered through county offices of the University of Georgia Cooperative Extension. Through this program, individuals are trained and certified in home horticulture, gardening, and related areas to help Georgia Cooperative Extension staff transfer research-based information about gardening to the public.
UGA Extension Gwinnett offers the Master Gardener Extension Volunteer Program for Teachers to Gwinnett County educators and school staff, including public, charter, and private schools. The 2024 program training will be online through UGA eLearning Commons (eLC) with four in-person hands-on labs. The curriculum is taught in modules with activities, discussion threads, and quizzes. Examples of topics are botany, plant physiology, soils, entomology, plant pathology, plant propagation, edible gardening, ornamental gardening, gardening with native plants, turf, and invasive plants.
2024 General Program Information
- Applications are currently being accepted.
- Application deadline has been extended to Friday, May 3rd
- If selected, class fees of $200 are due on May 15
- Virtual Class overview on June 5 at 10am.
- Class dates are June 5-December 31.
