Recommended Mowing Heights by Grass Type
Common Bermuda: 1-2"
Hybrid Bermuda: 1-1.5"
Centipede: 1-2"
St Augustine: 2-3"
Zoysia: 1-2"
In hot weather, increase all recommended mowing heights by 0.5".
When mowing, never remove more than 1/3 of the total height of grass blades. Removing more than 1/3 of total height will stress the grass.
Irrigation
Established lawns in Glynn County should receive 1" of water per week during the growing season. This includes rainfall. This is best achieved by applying 0.5" of water twice a week. It is best to water early in the mornings when temperatures and winds are lower. Too little or too much water can lead to stress and disease issues.
