4-H
State Council
State 4-H Council, a Georgia 4-H core program, is the constitutional meeting of the Georgia 4-H Council and includes the election of Georgia 4-H state officers. Registration for State 4-H Council is open to any current 8th-12th grade 4-H members. This annual meeting hosts multiple events, competitions, and training throughout the weekend for youth and adults.
4-H Summer Camp
Over 8,000 children ages 9 and up, accompanied by over 1,000 adult and teen leaders, travel annually to Georgia’s unique 4-H centers for a week of camp that will be remembered and cherished for years to come. Each camp offers adventure, friendship, and fun, and all seek to develop the camper’s Head, Heart, Hands and Health to make him or her a better person.
Glynn County had 37 students and 6 adults attend Cloverleaf Camp at Rock Eagle 4-H Center. We also had 1 member attend Senior Extreme Camp, 3 attend Wilderness Challenge Camp, 3 attend Junior Camp, and 5 attend Senior Camp.
Other 4-H Highlights
Spring and early summer are busy in the 4-H world both in and out of the classroom. Staff and 4-H members have been active learning and serving the community.
- Senior Conference at Rock Eagle 4-H Center- 7 students
- Spring break history tour of Sapelo Island- 12 students
- Junior Conference at Camp Jekyll- 6 students, 1 teen leader
- State Horse Show- 2 contestants
- STEM Camp, including Fishing Day, Pollinator Day, Garden Day, and Jekyll Island Day- 38 students
- One Georgia 4-H Urban/Rural Exchange- 1 student
- Georgia Officer Training- 2 students
- Monthly Garden Club and County Council meetings

Agriculture of Thanksgiving Foods
MC Halbrook was invited to present to the Sea Oates Garden Club November Meeting. At this, she presented on the agricultural background of Thanksgiving foods. Foods included turkeys, pumpkins, corn, cranberries, and sweet potatoes.
Meet Me in the Garden

Egg Candling Certification
Held at Fort King George on December 6. The Egg Candling Certification allows residents of Georgia to sell their farm fresh eggs. They are trained how to grade eggs to ensure food quality and safety.
Pond Management Lunch and Learn
Partnered with Effingham County Extension to host a Pond Management Lunch and Learn virtual training. We discussed pond water quality and weed management. We also offered pesticide license continuing education credits for private license and category 26 (aquatic pest control) for those license holders who need restricted use pesticides.

EFNEP
The Expanded Food & Nutrition Education Program helps families stretch their food dollar, eat healthier meals and snacks, and reduce the risk of foodborne illness. EFNEP is federally funded through USDA NIFA and offered nationwide.
During the 2022-2023 school year, Suzanne Walker, EFNEP Program Assistant, taught Food Talk Teen classes at Brunswick High School
EFNEP had 55 teen graduates from Brunswick High!
To date, Suzanne Walker has had 76 adult graduates for FY 2022-2023
FACS Around Glynn County
- Taught nutrition label reading at the Roosevelt Harris Senior Center
- Held a fiscal wellness lunch & learn for Glynn County employee's
- Organized & held the Spring Into Summer craft fair at the Glynn County Extension Office
- Provided nutrition education at the Coastal Coalition for Children Healthy Families Graduation
- Taught 4-H participants how to make healthy summer snacks/meals
- Presented on Physical Activity at the Roosevelt Harris Senior Center
- Held a stress management lunch & learn for Sea Island Employee's
- Discussed healthy sleep habits with Magnolia Manor residents
