Cobb 4-H Summer Activities:
Join Cobb 4-H for 11 amazing day activities! We have a wide variety of activities for our 4-H youth this summer. From a STEM Day and indoor sky diving at iFly, Service and Fun Day, Food Network Cooking Day, Art Day, a College Tour and more, we have so many exciting activities for Cobb County youth this summer! Check out our registration brochure for details! Most activities are from 9am-4pm on the day of the event. Pick up and drop off will be at the Cobb Extension Office. If you have younger youth, we have two activities just for our Cloverbuds in grades K-3 from 10:00am-11:30am. All grades are based on the current school year. All activities are limited! To register your child you may do one of the following:
- Stop by the Extension Office with your completed brochure and payment Monday-Friday from 8am-5pm. Our office is located at 678 South Cobb Drive Marietta, GA 30060
- Email the attached brochure with your completed activities and call the office to pay via phone with a Visa/MasterCard/Discover by calling 770-528-4070. A completed brochure must be emailed to a 4-H staff member and confirmed with them BEFORE calling to register. All are copied to this email.
- Mail the completed brochure with a check made payable to Cobb Extension/4-H
- Put your completed brochure and payment in our black drop box outside of the office doors if you can’t come during our business hours of Monday-Friday from 8am-5pm. Please be sure to notify me via email that you placed your brochure and payment in the drop box.
Clubs available for the 2021-2022 school year are:
4-H’ers 4th-12th grade meet once a month to enjoy peer led activities and community service. Officers plan and lead each club meeting. This is also a great way to learn about upcoming local, district, and state events and competitions. Activities that we have done for County Council include a luggage collection for foster children, decorating lunch bags for MUST Ministries, international night, talent shows, costume contests, and much more! Meetings are 6:30-8pm on September 7, October 5, November 2, December 7, January 11, February 1, March 1, April 12, and May 3 at the Extension Office. 4-H C.H.E.F. stands for “Cobb Helping Every Family”. The 4-H C.H.E.F. program will meet once a month on a Wednesday at the Extension Office to prepare a meal for a local family in need. This is open to 4th-12th graders. To ensure that we are following proper food safety protocol, any 4-H’er that is interested in attending a monthly 4-H CHEF cooking program must attend a mandatory Food Safety Handlers class. The fall Food Safety Handlers class will be on August 18th. Each month, 4-H’ers will sign up to attend the class, so it is not a typical club format. It is a monthly community service event. Young Farmer’s Club
Are you interested in gardening, animals, and learning more about agriculture engineering in Cobb County? Join the Young Farmers Club sponsored by UGA Extension and Cobb County Farm Bureau! Meetings are open to Cobb youth in 4th-12th grade. Meetings are held once a month on Wednesdays at the Cobb County Farm Bureau Office located at 2850 Powder Springs Rd SW Marietta, GA 30064 from 6:30pm-8:00pm. There may also be field trips to various locations. The Cobb County 4-H Archery team will enter its fifth season during the 2021-2022 school year. 4th-12th grade students are eligible to compete with the archery team. The team members are also members of Kennesaw Archery Club (KAC). Archers shoot compound or recurve bows depending on preference. The team will compete at various tournaments and competitions. Homeschool Science Club
The Cobb County 4-H Homeschool Club is open to 4th-6th grade students. All meetings will be held at the Cobb County Extension Office located at 678 South Cobb Drive Marietta, GA 30060. Lessons have ranged from learning about prescribed fires in forests to invasive aquatic species. Please contact Kathleen McElroy at firstname.lastname@example.org to sign up for the Homeschool Science Club interest list.
The Cobb County 4-H Shotgun team will enter its fifth season during the 2021-2022 school year. Open to 7th-12th grade youth. The team shoots trap and skeet and sporting clays. The season will start in early 2022. The team will compete at two competitions during the season culminating with the state competition in Savannah the last weekend of May. Art Club - Virtual
Craft projects with values! Along with creating some wonderful crafts, we will learn a moral value that is important! We will follow some concepts from Random Acts of Kindness Foundation. This is for K-3rd graders. The fee is $15. This Teen Leader led crafting club will be held the first Friday of every month from September to December 6-6:35pm. Book Club is an interactive literacy club that strives to help kids develop a love for reading. In addition to reading the books, we do lots of activities, play games, and discuss the books we read and the concepts displayed in the book. This is for 4th-8th graders. This group is led by volunteer, Kennedy Deveaux. If you have any questions or wish to register your child for this club, please contact Kathleen McElroy at Kathleen.McElroy@CobbCounty.org.
Do you like cooking or would like to learn how to cook from scratch? Join our 4-H Cooking Club for the Fall 2021 semester. This club is open to 4th-12th grade students. Club meetings are once a month from 6:00pm-8:00pm at the Extension Office. Fall 2021 dates include: September 21, October 26, November 16, December 21 (club will meet 11 am -1 pm this month). Learn, grow, eat & go!
Your child will learn where their food comes from and how to grow fruits and vegetables. They will also learn how to prepare the food that they learn about and will have a chance to do taste testing. Open to 2nd-4th graders. Fee s $25. Dates are September 14, October 12, November 9, December 7, January 19, February 16, March 16, April 20, and May 3. 11am-1pm. Horse and Pony Club
The Cobb County 4-H Horse and Pony Club is looking for new members! You do not have to own a horse or a pony to be a member of this club. Open to 4th-12th grade students. Meetings are typically held monthly from 6:30pm-8:00pm at the Extension Office located at 678 South Cobb Drive Marietta, GA 30060. Club dues are $30 for the year. Want to join 4-H but think you're too young to join? Join our pre-4-H Cloverbuds Club for K-3rd grade students. Meetings are held once a month on Wednesdays. There will be TWO Cloverbuds Clubs, a homeschool club that meets during the day from 10:00am-11:00am and a general 4-H Cloverbuds Club that meets in the evenings from 6:00pm-7:00pm. Both clubs meet on the same day in person at the Cobb County Extension office. Registration for both clubs will take place at Open House Thursday August 12th. Space is limited. $20 registration fee for the year. 2021-2022 club dates: September 8, October 20, November 10, December 8, January 12, February 9, March 9, April 13, May 11.
