Description

The Pike County Extension Office and Spalding County Extension Office are hosting a Journeyman Farmer Certificate Program with a focus on sheep and goat nutrition, breeding, FAMACHA, and more! This course is specifically designed with beginners in mind, and anyone with an interest in small ruminant care is welcome to sign up.

Course Details:

Friday, Sept 11: Intro to small ruminants, breeds and selection, nutrition, and more

Friday, Sept 18: Small ruminant health, breeding, and pest management

Friday, Sept 25: Hands-on learning with body condition scoring, FAMACHA, and more

Friday, Oct 2: Visit two small ruminant farms

Friday, Oct 9: Small Business Management Course - Marketing, business planning, and more

Time: 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. each session

Cost: $80 per person (+ credit/debit card fees) and covers all materials; register by Friday, September 4th at 6:00 p.m.
