Description

This class will demonstrate how to safely clean and store your eggs, so they stay fresh and safe to eat. Get hands-on practice using a candling light to spot hidden shell cracks or internal spots and learn how to easily sort your daily harvest by size and quality. We will discuss the parts of an egg, how they are formed, and how these features help determine overall egg quality. State regulations will also be discussed, so you can legally and confidently sell your fresh backyard eggs to neighbors, local markets, or neighborhood stores.

As of July 1, You no longer need an egg candling license to sell eggs from your own flock directly to household consumers off of your farm, such as at a farmers market or similar direct-to-consumer setting, provided the eggs are from your own flock and are sold directly to the end consumer.

This class will not count towards egg candling certification.

We invite you to bring eggs from your own flock to practice candling with.
