Food Pantry Project
Healthy Food for Everyone: Helping Our Neighbors
You can make a huge difference in our community with thoughtful food donations. This can help our neighbors stay healthy and manage conditions like diabetes.
The Power of Healthy Giving
Many people struggle to find or afford fresh, healthy meals. This is called nutrition insecurity. When we donate food, we aren't just filling a shelf; we are giving someone the fuel they need to stay strong.
What to Donate
When you shop for donations, look for items that last a long time but are still good for you:
Fruits: Canned fruit (in juice, not syrup), applesauce, and dried fruits (no added sugar).
Vegetables: Low-sodium canned veggies and tomatoes.
Grains: Brown rice, oatmeal, whole-wheat pasta, and other whole grains.
Protein: Peanut butter, dried beans, or canned tuna and chicken.
Dairy: Shelf-stable or powdered milk.
Our Partners
We are already working hard to help! The Monroe County Extension gives fresh produce from our 4-H garden to local programs like Backpack Buddies and the Circle of Care.
