Avian Flu

Highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) has been identified in commercial poultry flocks and a backyard flock in the state of Georgia, alongside an increasing number of cases nationwide.

Avian influenza poses a risk to all poultry operations, from backyard flocks to the state's multibillion-dollar commercial industry. The key to preventing the spread of the disease is biosecurity. All bird owners should take measures to prevent flocks from being exposed to avian flu.

HPAI is a reportable disease in Georgia. If you have concerns about HPAI in birds, call the Georgia Avian Influenza hotline at 770-766-6850.
