What is UGA Extension?

UGA Extension is a county, state, and federal funded organization supported by specialists in the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences and the College of Family and Consumer Sciences.

UGA Extension Pike County links resources of the University of Georgia and Pike County to provide educational programs, information, and assistance to the citizens of Pike County.

Upcoming Events with Pike County Extension

  • Nov 20 Pike County 4-H Archery Practice Pike County 4-H Archery Team will meet every Thursday evening from 6:00 - 7:30 except for holidays at Pike Outfitters. The first official indoor practice will begin on October 2nd and go through January 15th. For questions, contact Pike County 4-H at 770-567-2010 or email Mrs. Baade at baade@uga.edu

  • Dec 1 4-H Horse Club We’re excited to announce our brand-new Horse Club designed for 4th–12th grade students who want to gain hands-on experience learning about horses. This is an introductory-level program and is not a riding club—perfect for students just starting out! Program Details: - Cost: $80 per student (covers all 8 meetings) - Parent must attend with their student at each meeting - 8 Monthly Meetings (6:00–7:00 PM) - Meetings held rain or shine (inclement weather = indoor sessions) - Limited to 10 participants – first come, first serve sign-up Call 770-567-2010 or email baade@uga.edu for registration details and available spots.

  • Dec 3 Homesteading Skills: Pantry Pests and Storage Join Pike County Extension in 2025 for the Lunch and Learn series that will dive into homesteading skills. These monthly sessions are covered by experts and hosted on the second Wednesday of each month at 12pm (with the exception of holidays).
