Jasper County Extension offers a wealth of information and services to residents of our county. Our Agriculture and Natural Resources programs provide research -based information, educational programming, and resources to homeowners and commercial clientele in a variety of areas. Water and soil testing information and access to UGA publications are available through our office as well. 
 

ANR Agent

Derrick Jones has been with Jasper County Extension since July 2022.

Before coming to Jasper County, Derrick served as a 4-H/Agriculture Agent for Auburn University in Henry County, AL, an Agriculture Teacher/FFA advisor for 7 years, an Assistant Principal/CTAE Director in Hart County, GA for 12 years and a Vice Principal in Alaska for 3 years.

  • Jan 22 Radon Awareness Lunch n' Learn January is Radon Awareness Month! Radon is a toxic, naturally occurring gas formed by radium breakdown that can infiltrate our water and air supply. Inhalation poses a significant threat, as long-term exposure is linked to lung cancer. Join us on January 22nd for lunch and a talk about Radon safety from the UGA Radon Educator, Rebecca Cantrell. Free Radon test kits will be provided at the end of the program. Lunch will be provided with the cost of registration. Please register by January 17th, 2025.
