Extension Serves the Entire Community

Jasper County Extension offers a wealth of information and services to residents of our county. Our Agriculture and Natural Resources programs provide research -based information, educational programming, and resources to homeowners and commercial clientele in a variety of areas. Water and soil testing information and access to UGA publications are available through our office as well. 
 

ANR Agent

Derrick Jones has been with Jasper County Extension since July 2022.

Before coming to Jasper County, Derrick served as a 4-H/Agriculture Agent for Auburn University in Henry County, AL, an Agriculture Teacher/FFA advisor for 7 years, an Assistant Principal/CTAE Director in Hart County, GA for 12 years and a Vice Principal in Alaska for 3 years.

  • Jun 22 Open Garden Days: Native Gardens at Island Ford Join UGA Extension Master Gardeners in Fulton County for Open Garden Days at the Native Gardens at Island Ford Unit! Master Gardeners will be available on Saturday, June 22nd from 10am-2pm to show you around the garden and answer your gardening questions. The Chattahoochee National Recreation Area is headquartered at the Island Ford Unit and the park visitor center is located at this site. The park is managed by the National Park Service and includes opportunities for hiking, fishing, and wildlife viewing along the Chattahoochee River. The Native Gardens are located on either side of the entrance to the park and they showcase the diversity of native plants found along the Chattahoochee River and provide enhanced habitat for pollinators. Events are free and open to the public. Visitors who complete our garden tour survey are entered to win one of several prize baskets!   • Jun 22 Open Garden Days: Lost Corner Cottage Garden Join UGA Extension Master Gardeners in Fulton County for Open Garden Days at the Lost Corner Cottage Garden! Master Gardeners will be available on Saturday, June 22nd from 10am-2pm to show you around the garden and answer your gardening questions. The Cottage Garden at Lost Corner demonstrates heritage plants suitable to varying light conditions and enhances the area in front of the historic cottage.The Lost Corner Nature Preserve includes 24 wooded acres on a historic farm. Trails and picnic tables are available to explore the site and enjoy a snack. Some trails are ADA approved. Events are free and open to the public.
