S.A.F.E.:

Description: Project S.A.F.E. (Shooting, Awareness, Fun, and Education) is a program that teaches youth the safe handling and shooting of shotguns.  This team will enhance youth development of concept, character and personal growth through safe, educational and socially acceptable involvement in  shooting activities.  The program promotes the highest standards of safety, sportsmanship, ethical behavior; and it strengthens families through participation in life-long recreational activities.

Cost: approximately $165 per individual

Includes: Shotgun shells, registration fees for competition clay targets and team shirts.

 

DISTRICT PROJECT ACHIEVEMENT (DPA)

Description:  DPA is an opportunity for recognition of outstanding accomplishments in 4-H work.  4-H’ers who are selected as county winners in one of more than 50 project areas compete with other county winners for district honors.  They present their project work through a 4-H demonstration (public speech with visual aid) and a portfolio of their accomplishments.  4-H DPA is one of the foundations of the Georgia 4-H program.

Includes:  Transportation to and from the event, all lodging and meals for a weekend.

SUMMER CAMP:

Description:  Georgia youth descend on five separate 4-H camps throughout the state for a week of experiences that will be reflected on for years to come.  Whether a 4-H’er attends Fortson, Jekyll Island, Burton, Wahsega, or the Rock Eagle 4-H Center, he or she will experience a week full of high adventure, friendship and fun! 

Includes:  Official Camp T-shirt, transportation to and from camp, and all lodging and meals for this five-day adventure!

 

CONFERENCES & RETREATS:

Description: Annual 4-H conferences and retreats such as 4-H Fall Forum, State Council and Junior Conference allow 4-H’ers to gain leadership and citizenship skills as they engage in a variety of pertinent workshops and complete community service activities.

Includes:  Transportation to and from the event, all lodging and meals for a weekend.

 

LIVESTOCK SHOW GROUP

Description: Group of young individuals who participate in exhibiting livestock, including goats, lambs, hogs, cows, rabbits, chickens and horses.

The Georgia 4-H Livestock Program offers extraordinary educational opportunities for youth ages 9- 19. 4-H'ers involved in the livestock program are challenged with real-life issues as they learn responsibility through raising, showing and judging livestock. Livestock projects give students the opportunity to practice and acquire new knowledge in the fields of animal science, business, time management and leadership. georga4h.org

Here in Houston County we are trying to build up our livestock show group and we need your help in every way. We are looking for monetary and in-kind donations of any value.

COMPETITIVE TEAMS

Description:  Cotton Boll/Consumer Judging, Poultry Judging, Livestock Judging

4-H Quiz Bowl,  Dairy Quiz Bowl

4-H competitive teams allow 4-H’ers to gain valuable decision making skills and public speaking abilities and enjoy working successfully with a team of peers.

When you donate, you are supporting a full team’s participation in area competition, including transportation to and from the event, meals, team uniforms, and study resources.
