Habersham County 4-H Cooking Teams and Information
Welcome to the Habersham County Cooking page, where we constantly create fun things to grow, cook, and eat. We will post event information regarding contests and rules here, along with a kid-approved healthy meal idea each month. Please check out the Georgia 4-H Healthy Living page or the USDA MyPlate Kitchen for more information.
On Sept. 21, Emmalee, Lydia, and Contessa competed in the Georgia 4-H Food Challenge contest. They had 40 minutes to learn about their ingredients, create and cook a recipe, and give a presentation on food nutrition, safety, and how they created the dish. They did a fantastic job!
Team members- Contessa Champlin, Emmalee Turgeon, and Lydia Cannon.
Emmalee Turgeon participated in the individual Egg Chef contest. She not only created a delicious dish of Shakshuka, but then had to give an eight minute speech on the importance of the egg, quality, nutrition, economical value and explain how she created her dish. Congratulations Emmalee!
Our first recipe of the month is great for that quick laundry round-up and homework before playtime. It is a fast prep and then off to the oven while you are busy doing other things without sacrificing a delicious and nutritious meal. You will find the recipe here for Sheet Pan Sausage and Veggie Bake.
