Oct 7 Apple Preserves- Food Preservation Canning Workshop Cumming, GA - (52.0 miles) Join a hands-on class and learn the process of canning. Learn the ways to properly preserve jams and jellies using water bath canning. Each participant will go home with a jar of apple preserves.

Oct 12 2026 Oconee County Bat Festival Watkinsville, GA - (64.0 miles) Join us at the 3rd annual Oconee County Bat Festival! It’s a free, family-friendly event all about our native, nocturnal, insect-eating friends: the bats. The festival will have educational talks, local vendors, games, activities, arts & crafts, and food. We’ll also have a plant sale for you to build a bat garden in your own yard. Celebrate the season by trick-or-treating around our booths and participating in our costume contest! We’ll even have Georgia DNR live bat ambassador Commissioner Gordon making a guest appearance! Finally, we'll be finishing out the night by going on a bat walk to listen in on wild bats who call the park home. The festival will be on Monday, 10/12, at Heritage Park in Watkinsville and will run from 4-8 p.m., with booths and vendors closing at 7:30 p.m. to lead into our bat walk. Oct 22 Clarkesville Right Bite Diabetes Cooking School Clarkesville, GA Join us for this 3-part series and learn about the role nutrition can play in managing diabetes! Participants will learn about nutrition topics directly related to preventing or managing Type 2 Diabetes, and will get HANDS-ON experience cooking diabetes friendly recipes.
