The Gilmer County UGA Extension office is open Monday thru Friday from 8:00 am to 12:00 noon (closed for lunch) then 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm at 1123 Progress Road in Ellijay, Georgia.
Gilmer County is located in the North Central portion of Georgia at the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, about an hour north of Atlanta, and is known as the "Apple Capital of Georgia," holding an annual Apple Festival in Ellijay in October. In addition to an ANR Agent, 4-H Agent, FACS Agent and Administrative Assistant, we have a SNAP-Ed Program Assistant, 4-H AmeriCorps Member plus Master Gardener Extension Volunteers (MGEVs.) We offer information on the local cannery, We also offer assistance with pesticide licenses, GATE cards, radon testing in the air, radon testing in well water, and a variety of other tests including soil and water. There are 4-H school club meetings, summer camp, team sports and competitions, plus educational activities, classes and workshops in all three program areas.
