4-H volunteers hands

If you would like to become a 4-H Volunteer Leader, please contact the 4-H office to have the Application link emailed to you.  A background check is done by UGA Human Resources in Athens. Two reference recommendations are also required. In addition, overnight chaperones must complete a training course (approximately 2 hrs.) before becoming certified leaders. Staff must also maintain contact with volunteers every quarter to remain a certified volunteer.

All 4-H volunteers must complete Risk Management Training. The online training ‘Georgia 4-H: Working with Youth…Managing Risk’ is available online and is required for all adults who supervise youth in 4-H programs. This training is designed to help our volunteers better understand the role of 4-H and Cooperative Extension, fundamentals of 4-H and youth development and the appropriate practices and protocols in working with youth. The online training is approximately 20 minutes in length and can be completed at your home or other computer. You do need internet capability and a speaker and will conclude with a review/quiz of the material. You will receive the link in an email.
