The UGA Extension mission is to extend lifelong learning to Georgia citizens through unbiased, research-based education in agriculture, the environment, communities, youth and families.

  • Nov 29 - Dec 1 Preventive Control Qualified Individuals Workshop The Preventive Controls Rule requires that each facility have Preventive Control Qualified Individuals for the development and implementation of Hazard Analysis and Risk-based Preventive Controls for Human Foods. This course provides the required training. The curriculum is designed for food industry professionals with responsibility for the development and implementation of a food safety plan. Attendees who complete the course will be recognized as Preventive Controls Qualified Individuals (PCQI). This two-and-a-half-day course was developed by the Food Safety Preventive Controls Alliance, a broad-based public-private alliance created by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Illinois Institute of Technology’s Institute for Food Safety and Health (IFSH) in cooperation with the Association of Food and Drug Officials. This training will take place in Athens, Georgia on November 29th - Dec. 1st. Registration closes on 11/22 at 4:00 pm.

  • Nov 30 ServSafe Manager Certification Training and Exam Georgia Cooperative Extension provides the nationally recognized and accredited ServSafe® training for foodservice managers from the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation (NRAEF). Upon successful completion of the ServSafe® examination, the ServSafe® Food Protection Manager certificate will be issued by the NRAEF. Workshops are offered in multiple locations throughout the state; see each training's contact for details.

  • Dec 1 ServSafe Food Protection Manager Training and Exam Georgia Cooperative Extension provides the nationally recognized and accredited ServSafe® training for foodservice managers from the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation (NRAEF). Upon successful completion of the ServSafe® examination, the ServSafe® Food Protection Manager certificate will be issued by the NRAEF. Workshops are offered in Bartow county. The fee of $140 includes course book, educational materials, instruction, exam and refreshments. Pre-registration required, please contact our office.
