UGA Extension has provided online educational programming, consultations and essential lab services during the COVID-19 pandemic while observing safe health practices for employees and the public. We offer resources for adults and 4-H youth on health, food, finances, parenting, agriculture and more. The Effingham County Extension Office will be closed to the public, but we will still be available to receive phone calls.  Soil samples and/or 4-H payments and paperwork can be dropped off by appointment only.  Please call the office (912) 754-8040 if you need to request these services.  


The Effingham County Extension Office delivers educational programming for the citizens of Effingham in the areas of

  • Agriculture and Natural Resources
  • 4-H Youth Development 
  • Family and Consumer Sciences.  

The UGA Extension mission is to extend lifelong learning to Georgia citizens through unbiased, research-based education in agriculture, the environment, communities, youth and families.

  • Apr 19 - Apr 20 ServSafe® Manager Certification Training and Exam Georgia Cooperative Extension provides the nationally recognized and accredited ServSafe® training for foodservice managers from the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation (NRAEF). Upon successful completion of the ServSafe® examination, the ServSafe® Food Protection Manager certificate will be issued by the NRAEF. Workshops are offered in multiple locations throughout the state; see each training's contact for details.

  • Apr 19 - Apr 23 Meat & Poultry HACCP--Virtual Workshop This program has been designed to meet the USDA’s training requirements and also is accredited by the International HACCP Alliance, whose goal is to provide standardized training for the meat and poultry industries in HACCP principles. The course curriculum was developed by the American Meat Science Association to help processors understand, develop and apply Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) principles in their production operations.
