UGA Extension has provided online educational programming, consultations and essential lab services during the COVID-19 pandemic while observing safe health practices for employees and the public. We offer resources for adults and 4-H youth on health, food, finances, parenting, agriculture and more. The Effingham County Extension Office will be closed to the public, but we will still be available to receive phone calls.  Soil samples and/or 4-H payments and paperwork can be dropped off by appointment only.  Please call the office (912) 754-8040 if you need to request these services.  


The Effingham County Extension Office delivers educational programming for the citizens of Effingham in the areas of

The UGA Extension mission is to extend lifelong learning to Georgia citizens through unbiased, research-based education in agriculture, the environment, communities, youth and families.

  • Oct 25 Northeast Georgia Master Cattlemen's Program The UGA Beef Team is excited to offer the Master Cattlemen's Program. This program involves detailed, in-depth educational seminars related to beef cattle. The program lasts 8 weeks and meets on Monday evenings Sept 13-Nov 1 from 6:30pm-8:30pm. This program is being co-hosted by Madison and Oglethorpe Counties.

  • Oct 26 UGA Extension Master Small Ruminant Series: Class 5 -Parasite Management and Fecal Egg Count This six session intensive series will involve lecture sessions on basic production schedules, reproduction, lambing and kidding, forage management, predator control, marketing, parasite management. In addition to the lecture sessions there will be one Saturday session where participants can handle sheep and goats in a safe environment so that they may learn hands-on low-stress handling techniques, hoof trimming, body condition scoring, record health data points, and practices FAMACHA scoring and obtain their certification.
