Horse Club is currently accepting new members. To join please click HERE to register.

The 4-H Horse club allows participants to take riding lessons, understand horse behavior, barn safety, and horse health care with our 4-H Volunteer Leader, Ms. Cynthia Brayton. Ms. Brayton was a 4-H student and has always had a passion for horses and has owned several. The program will allow you to develop horsemanship skills. You will also learn skills through educational activities such as horse quiz bowl.

Horse Quiz Bowl

 Participants are expected to compete face-to-face in a game-style competition on January 28 for the 2023 Georgia 4-H State Horse Quiz Bowl Competition held in Madison, GA. 

Horse Quiz Bowl teams of either four or five members from one county compete against each other answering questions in a game show format. Play consists of double-elimination tournament-style matches where two teams compete at a time. Participants compete with their team to answer questions on anatomy, conformation, feed, and nutrition.

  • Mar 29 Apple Grafting Workshop In this workshop attendees will learn the process and techniques to successfully graft apple trees. We will walk you through the process of marrying scion and rootstock. Participants will be provided with 5 semi-dwarf rootstock (G210) which will mature to a perfect sized tree (10-15') for most people to manage. Numerous scion varieties will be available to select from. Many heirloom, disease resistant and even Georgia varieties on hand which will range in ripening windows from June - November. Available varieties will range in use from drying, sauce, cooking, cider, fresh eating or a combination. Grafting knives, parafilm and labels will be available for use. By attending you will join the University of Georgia's efforts to preserve and restore these historic apple cultivars.
