Judging Teams

Cotton Bowl and Consumer Judging 


Open to all 4-H members from 5th grade up. Learn about consumer goods and services and rank them on how well they satisfy a particular consumer’s need in a given scenario.  Also understand the importance of cotton. Members learn facts about clothing and cotton, as well as how to read a food label and selection of goods. Contest is held in Tifton, GA on October 30th, 2018. Practices will start in September. Announcements concerning practices are made via newsletters, Facebook, and REMIND.

Livestock Evaluation 


Open to 4-Hers in grades 6th-12th. One state wide contest is held in Athens, GA. Members on the team will be taught how to evaluate livestock for breeding or food purposes and rank them based on traits and usage. Species judged are hogs, cattle, and sheep. Students will be required to judge the classes and write a set of oral reasons on no more than 3 classes as well as answer a set of questions.
