Become A Master Gardener

Do You want to become a Master Gardener?

Newly selected Master Gardener Extension Volunteer Interns are required to undergo 13 weeks of horticultural training courses, pass a comprehensive exam, and are expected to log 50hours on service projects before they can officially become a Master Gardener. 

Join us for a Walton County Master Gardener Program Meet & Greet and learn how you can turn your love of gardening into community impact!

This informal information session is a great opportunity to:
• Learn about the Master Gardener training program
• Meet current Master Gardeners
• Ask questions about classes, volunteer service, and the application process
• Discover how you can share research-based gardening knowledge in our community

Whether you’re a seasoned gardener or just ready to grow your knowledge, we’d love to meet you and help you explore this rewarding volunteer opportunity.

2026 Training Class

2026 Classes will be held September through December.
 Applications will be accepted through June 2026.

Application Process

If you are interested in becoming a Walton County Master Gardener we will start taking applications in April 2026. Applications are due to the Walton County Extension Office by June 1st. Selection interviews and acceptance notifications will occur through out the summer. Training classes will begin in September.
