Interns work with an Extension Agent to see firsthand how the organization serves Georgia and the local county. Gain hands-on experience in the field and office. In Jackson County, interns assist in research projects, plan adult education programs, collect soil & hay samples, and other learning opportunities. Applications deadlines are outined below. Late applications are not accepted. The majority of paid internships are available during the summer. We generally have a very limited number of unpaid and part-time placements available during fall and spring semesters.   • Fall semester deadline – May 1 of the current year
  • Spring semester deadline – October 1 of current year
  • Summer semester deadline – February 1 of the current year

Applications, including a current resume and cover letter, are to be submitted online through the  CAES scholarships and internships portal. Non-UGA students should provide their home institutional information in place of UGA specific details (major/hours completed/etc.).

Who Is Eligible? 

Students currently enrolled at any college or university in an undergraduate or graduate program are eligible. Graduates may also apply for an internship during the semester immediately following graduation. We’re looking for people with:

  • interest in pursuing a career with Extension.
  • desire to serve others and a genuine interest in people.
  • ability to lead, teach, motivate, and communicate effectively.
  • motivation to continue learning and growing professionally.
  • desire to work as part of a team.

The majority of our paid internships are offered during the summer, so be sure to apply early for full consideration. We also offer a limited number of volunteer and part-time internships during fall and spring semesters. If you need class credit, it’s up to you to work with your academic advisor to arrange for college credit. This internship meets UGA's experiential learning requirement.
