EFNEP (Expanded Food & Nutrition Education Program)

Expanded Food Nurtution

Helping Families Eat Better for Less

EFNEP is a program that helps families stretch their food dollar, eat healthier meals and snacks, and reduce the risk of foodborne illness. EFNEP is federally funded and offered nationwide. In Georgia, EFNEP is offered through UGA Extension and Fort Valley State University for over 40 years because it has demonstrated impact. After completing the series of eight EFNEP sessions, an average of 90% of Georgia EFNEP participants made positive changes in their diets over the past three years.

The EFNEP program is available at no charge to agencies or participants. It is a series of 6 to 8 one-hour sessions held at a mutually agreed upon time. At least 3 participants are required for a group. Participants receive a certificate and cookbook upon completion.
