Adults: FACS Needlework & Canning Fair Exhibits

General Exhibits Information

Articles entered will be locked in a glass-enclosed area. The fairgrounds are guarded 24 hours a day. The best of care and attention will be exercised to prevent injury or loss to persons or exhibits. Neither the Fair Association nor any individual will be responsible for any injury to persons or exhibits entered in the fair. All items must be left on display throughout the entire fair. 

Impartial judges, not members of the Kiwanis Club of Griffin, will do judging.

Residents of all counties are eligible.

Due to limited space, we can accept 2 items per category with a maximum of 5 items per person.

Awards

  • Grand Champion: $15
  • Blue Ribbon: $8
  • Red Ribbon: $5
  • Yellow/White Ribbon: $3

Needlework

Eligibility

  • Anything made with a needle within the last year will be accepted. No machine knitting accepted.
  • Persons who teach or own needlework shops or in any way receive or have received money for work done are invited to exhibit, but will not be eligible for cash awards. 
  • All entries MUST have labels on the entry with the needleworker’s name, category, and lot number. Entries without required labeling will not be judged.

Canning

Eligibility

  • All entries must follow the USDA/National Center for Home Food Preservation canning guidelines.
  • All entries must have been preserved within the last year (12months). Only items canned since September 30, 2025, are eligible for entry. Old canning will be disqualified.
  • Unsealed exhibits or products showing signs of spoilage will not be judged.
  • Clean, standard (quarts, pints, half-pints, or quarter-pints) canning jars with new standard lids and rings (rust free) left on must be used. NO other jars will be accepted or judged.
  • All entries must be sealed to be entered. Entry should be clean - sides of jar, under band and on top of lid.
  • All entries MUST have labels on the entry with the canner’s name, category, and lot number. Entries without required labeling will not be judged.
