SAFE Shooting Sports
Bacon County BB Team
Each fall students in 4th-9th grades are eligible to sign up for the BB team. Registration usually begins in September with practices beginning in late September or early October. Competition season runs from January through April with the final competition being the state shoot at Rock Eagle in May. Bacon County Modified Trap Shotgun Team
Students in grades 6-12 can begin to sign up in November for the Shotgun Team. Space is limited so plan to sign up early. Practices will begin weekly after the first of the year. There are only two major competitions for 4-H, district and state, though the team may schedule and attend other competitions in the area at the discretion of the coaches and 4-H staff. The district qualifier is held in April with the final competition being the state shoot at Rock Eagle in May. At left is the 2021-2022 Shotgun team and coaches. This was the second year for this team in Bacon County and 5 of the 6 team members qualified for the state competition.
