What is UGA Extension?

UGA Extension is a county, state, and federal funded organization supported by specialists in the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences and the College of Family and Consumer Sciences.

UGA Extension Pike County links resources of the University of Georgia and Pike County to provide educational programs, information, and assistance to the citizens of Pike County.

  • Mar 2 4-H Horse Club We’re excited to announce our brand-new Horse Club designed for 4th–12th grade students who want to gain hands-on experience learning about horses. This is an introductory-level program and is not a riding club—perfect for students just starting out! Program Details: - Cost: $80 per student (covers all 8 meetings) - Parent must attend with their student at each meeting - 8 Monthly Meetings (6:00–7:00 PM) - Meetings held rain or shine (inclement weather = indoor sessions) - Limited to 10 participants – first come, first serve sign-up Call 770-567-2010 or email baade@uga.edu for registration details and available spots.

  • Mar 3 Pike County Homestead Hub The Pike County Extension Office is proud to introduce our brand new Homestead Hub! If you are looking to: - connect with local homesteaders - expand your local network - learn new skills - Explore different topics - Share your knowledge with others - Discuss challenges and opportunities for homesteading. Then this will be a great opportunity for you! Whether you are new to the area and want to learn more about what makes Pike County so great, or you are interested in sharing your expertise, there is something for everyone in the Pike County Homestead Hub. BI-Monthly meetings beginning November 4th, 2025, will take place at the Pike County Extension office located at 943 Sandefur Rd. Meansville, GA 30256. These monthly sessions are covered by experts and hosted on the first Wednesday of each month at 12pm (with the exception of holidays).
