Welcome to UGA Extension Fayette County!
UGA Extension Fayette County is a partnership of The University of Georgia, Fayette County Government, Fort Valley State University, and the U.S. Department of Agriculture. It exists to serve all the people of Fayette County including Fayetteville, Peachtree City, Tyrone, Brooks, and in between.

Our mission is to extend lifelong learning to Georgia citizens through unbiased, research-based education in agriculture, the environment, communities, youth and families.

Bulbs in Containers
Fayetteville, GA
Discover the secret to a continuous explosion of spring blooms. We invite you to join our upcoming hands-on workshop focused on the bulb layering method. In this program, you will learn how to design and plant a multi-layered container that flowers sequentially all spring long.
You will be able to create and customize your own spring arrangement. The registration fee covers your container and a minimum of 17 premium bulbs.
To ensure a quality, hands-on experience, space is strictly limited to 20 participants!

Bee Removal Certification Course

The Fayette County Extension is offering an 8-hour training course approved by the Georgia Structural Pest Control Commission. This course allows you to obtain a Honey Bee Control and Removal (HBR) license. The training format will be two half-day sessions. You must attend both sessions to finish the 8-hour requirement.

2026 Fayette County Environmental Day Camp: Oct 12th - 14th
Fayetteville, GA
In this 3 day camp, we will explore our soils and water, learn the basics of tree and plant identification, and understand habitat requirements for wildlife species in our area through hands on activities. Fee for this program is $15 total. Snacks and camp materials are included in the $15 registration fee. Only 10 SPOTS available. For Youth in Grades 7-12.

Composting is an excellent way to reduce the amount of waste we send to the landfill while creating a soil amendment that benefits plant and soil health. Join us to learn composting basics, methods, and how you can implement composting.

Frame Your Forest: Preserved Moss Art
Fayetteville, GA
In this hands-on program and activity, we will create a framed preserved moss art painting. We will be educated on live moss vs preserved moss and how we can use preserved moss and natural products to create an art piece. Participants will take home their framed moss art painting and have the knowledge to create more moss art on their own. The fee will include various moss types, a frame, colorful rocks, and some other natural elements to create your art. This program will be led by our UGA Master Gardener Extension Volunteer (MGEV), Charlane Hemphill.

Blueberries: Home Production to Preservation

A favorite of both people and wildlife, blueberries can be an excellent addition to your landscape. Come learn how to select, propagate, maintain, harvest, and preserve this productive Georgia native. If weather permits, we will spend some time in the classroom and at the Education Garden. Dress accordingly.

The holidays are a wonderful time to gather with family and friends. As you are hosting gatherings or attending ones, decorate your home using natural décor. In this program, we will discuss different houseplants that will provide beautiful displays in your home or could be gifted to those you love.

Holiday Succulent Trees

In this hands-on class, we will make a 12 inch living centerpiece! Come learn about different types of sedums and succulents. After an educational session, we will construct a living arrangement using succulents and sedums for you to enjoy for your holiday gatherings. Cost of $40 includes all materials to make your centerpiece, however please feel free to bring any personal embellishments you would like to add. Only 20 spots available!

Ever wonder how this parasitic plant became a holiday tradition? Join us to learn the mistletoe basics, how it spreads, tree effects, and controls. If weather permits, we will spend some time in the classroom and then step outside to observe surrounding trees.

Handcrafted Holiday Swags!

In this hands-on class, you will create your very own Holiday Swag! Join us and learn about creating a holiday swag using natural materials from our yards. The cost of $5 includes all materials for your swag including greenery, natural elements, and 1 premade bow or ribbon if you'd like to make your own bow. Class size is limited to 20 participants. The program will be led by our MGEV, Charlane Hemphill.
