UGA Extension has provided online educational programming, consultations and essential lab services during the COVID-19 pandemic while observing safe health practices for employees and the public. We offer resources for adults and 4-H youth on health, food, finances, parenting, agriculture and more. The Jefferson County Extension Office lobby is currently closed to the public. However, we are continuing to work and can be reached at the office number: 478-625-3046. We have a drop box placed outside the door for soil, water and other sample processing. There are many 4-H activities to pick up for students along with free seed and hands-on activities. Please call with any questions. Our office hours are: Monday- Friday from 8:00am- 5:00pm (12:00pm-1:00pm lunch).

  • Jun 10 Green Thumb Virtual Lectures: Water-wise Gardening This month, the lecture will take place online using Zoom (for more information about Zoom, visit zoom.com). Anyone is welcome to attend. This class is a part of Athens-Clarke County Extension's Green Thumb Lectures, our 2020 free monthly gardening class series. It will include an informative presentation on topics including the importance of water conservation, methods for stewarding water efficiently in your garden, and managing evaporative water loss. Gardeners of all experience levels are welcome. The Zoom meeting room will open up at 5:45 with the presentation starting at 6:00pm .   • Jun 19 CANCELLED - Child Passenger Safety This class provides instruction on the importance and proper use of car seats and safety belts for children when riding in vehicles. The class is open to all parents regardless of financial status or residency. However, qualified participants (Burke County resident who is WIC, PeachCare, or Medicaid eligible) will receive a free car seat or booster seat that meets the needs of their child. Please note that there is a two seat per family limit. REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED! Waynesboro, GA - (26.0 Miles)
