Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
How/where do I pay the $150 deposit?
Deposits may be paid by cash, money order, or check made out to Emanuel County Extension/4-H. It may be paid in person at our office located at 129 N Anderson Drive in Swainsboro during regular business hours (8-12, 1-5, M-F), left in our dropbox outside of those hours, or mailed.
How do we apply for a scholarship?
Scholarship applications are available to any of our 4-H’ers and can be picked up when the $150 deposit is paid. We will award at least 10 scholarships this year. If more than 10 scholarship applications are received, they are scored by a committee. The scores are based on the 4-Her’s responses to why they want to attend camp, what activities they’ve participated in, a teacher recommendation, and statement of need. The deadline to submit applications is Friday, March 20, 2026. Scholarship decisions will be shared with the applicants via email by March 27, 2026.
What kind of fundraisers are available?
Due to lack of participation in previous years, no fundraisers are planned for 2026. If you are in need of financial assistance, please contact us.
I didn't pay the $150 deposit within 1 week. Can I still go to camp?
Yes, but your name will be placed at the back of the line. You may complete the online registration again or contact us to have your registration placed in the queue.
My plans have changed and I can no longer attend. What happens to the money I've paid?
Initial $150 deposits are non-refundable except in extreme, emergency circumstances. Any payments made in addition to the deposit are refundable if the cancellation is made within 2 weeks of the camp date. All requests for refunds must be made in writing and emailed to uge3107@uga.edu. Money awarded via scholarship is forfeited; it has no cash value, will not be paid out, and cannot be transferred to another camper.
There's a waiting list for the camp that I'd like to attend. Should I still register?
Yes! We fully expect more spots to open up both as a result of withdrawals and when other counties fail to fill all of their spaces. You should register to ensure that your name is at the top of the list when those spaces become available! Please continue to monitor your email as we will notify you as soon as that happens. You will have 5 days to pay the deposit before that spot is offered to the next camper in line. Unfortunately, you cannot apply for a scholarship until you are off the waiting list and will have to wait until the deposit is paid.
