This hands-on workshop will introduce participants to the safe and humane processing of poultry (quail) and rabbits for home food production. Participants will learn the process from start to finish, including proper harvesting techniques, dressing and preparing carcasses, food safety, and preparing meat for storage or the table.

• Oct 10 Food Preservation Workshop: Potatoes Join the Thomas County Family & Consumer Sciences Agent, Olivia Tumlin, on Saturday, October 10th for information about how to preserve potatoes in a Pressure Canner. We will also be discussing safely canning soups and other mixtures! The class will begin at 10AM and finish around 2pm (we will have snacks available, but please pack a lunch if desired). If yes, you should consider becoming a Georgia Master Naturalist! The Georgia Master Naturalist program is an adult environmental education course developed by the UGA Warnell School of Forestry & Natural Resources and UGA Cooperative Extension for people who wish to be more informed about habitats, urban ecology, forests, wetlands, water, wildlife and other natural environments. This fun weekly program is a combination of lectures and outside hands-on learning experiences through field studies.
