2024 Annual Blueberry Cooking Contest

Join us for the 2024 Annual Blueberry Cooking Contest for Youth and Adults on May 4, 2024! Cost is FREE to participate. Entries are welcome from men (18+), women (18+), and youth (17 and under). See flyer and registration form for more complete information.

Adult winners will receive: 1st ($50), 2nd ($35), 3rd ($25); children/youth winners receive: 1st ($15), 2nd ($10), 3rd ($5). Contest sponsored by Jay's IGA and UGA Extension, Bacon County.

Anyone is welcome to attend. After entries are judged, any individual in attendance may elect to pay a $1.00 tasting fee and taste any or all of the entries present.

Participation Details

THERE IS NO COST TO ENTER THIS CONTEST. For those entering a dish, please bring your food, completed entry form, copy of recipe and serving utensil to the Bacon County Extension office between 9:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. Contest and judging will begin at 10:30 a.m. Rules: 1. Only one entry per person in Adult (18+) or Youth (17 and under) category. 2. A hard copy of complete recipe must be submitted with the entry the day of the contest. Recipes must also be submitted in a typed digital format saved to a flash drive or emailed to uge4005@uga.edu. Name, address, and phone number are required. Also bring a serving utensil for your dish. 3. Entries will be judged on appearance, complete recipe, taste, and nutritional content. 4. Winners will be announced at the end of the judging at the Extension Office. 5. Once the contest has ended, we will have a tasting time. For $1 per person, anyone will be able to sample the entries. 6. Following the Tasting Time, you may take your entry home with you.
