Professional development for educators utilizing school gardens

Your school garden team is invited to experience four days of hands-on learning centered around gardening, cooking, and developing a sustainable plan for your school garden program. We will equip you with the knowledge and skills needed to manage a school garden, cook in the classroom, and use the garden to enhance student learning and engagement.

This training is designed for P-12 educators. All subject areas are welcome: agriculture education or art, special education or gifted, 1st grade or 1st period calculus. The only requirement is that you have, or plan to have, a garden at your school, and want to utilize the garden as a teaching tool.

This professional development opportunity is designed and taught by a team of UGA faculty and staff along with local partner Wimberly’s Roots.

When and Where:

June 12-15, 2023
Wimberly Center for Community Development
Winder, GA
8:30-4:00 each day

Registration:

The registration is a materials fee for hands-on activities, ingredients for lunch, hand-outs, and an awesome t-shirt. We will also provide a light breakfast, coffee, and tea. Participants will be responsible for lodging and dinner.

School gardens work best in schools with a team that manages the garden program. We offer a discount to schools attending as a team.

Registration is through Eventbrite. After entering your application, you can pay via card, or let us know that your school system will be sending a check. There are only 20 spaces available in this training, so applying early is encouraged. We only have space for 5 agriculture education teachers. Registration will close April 28th.

Team Registration: $75/team member

Individual Registration: $100

If you need your school to mail in a check, it can be sent to
