Pesticide Applicator Training
  • Mar 29 2019 Forestry and Wildlife Management Field Day Join UGA Cooperative Extension for our second annual Forestry and Wildlife field day. The purpose of this course is to introduce forest management for wildlife. The primary goal is to focus on the relationship between timber management and the habitat needs of wildlife. Attendees will have the opportunity to earn CLEs, CFEs, and Commercial/Private applicators credits (4 hours CAT 23,24--2 hours Private). Attendees will also receive a notebook with all of the information that will be covered during the field day and a Forestry and Wildlife Field Day Hat. Gray, GA

  • Mar 25 Increasing Yield and Profitability in Peanut and Cotton Production Through Irrigation Efficiency Workshop This educational opportunity is free to attend and a networking lunch is provided. An agenda will be uploaded at a later time. What you can expect to learn: 1. Utilization of irrigation scheduling solutions such as UGA Checkbook, SmartIrrigation Cotton App, and IrrgatorPro to gain in-depth knowledge on using these methods. 2. Investment analysis to illustrate the capital costs associated with adopting these tools and projected return on investment, annual operating costs of equipment, and associated management expenses. 3. Georgia’s Climate: A look back at 2018 and an outlook for 2019 and beyond. 4. State agricultural water permitting and water planning from the Georgia Environmental Protection Division Field demonstration and guided strategic planning will take place so producers can leave the workshop ready to implement the education they receive.   • Apr 3 EmpowerU Advocacy Training Program NOTE: DATE CHANGES 4 week course training citizens, property owners, master naturalists and master gardener volunteers how to grow their skills to meaninfully engage with decision makers about local invasive species issues. Course is a series of self-paces online learning activities and two in-person workshops (in-person classes held at Camden Extension office in Woodbine - April 3rd & May 17th). Cost $40.   • Apr 3 Free Gardening Class Series: Vegetable Gardening Please join us for April’s class on Vegetable Gardening! This class is a part of Athens-Clarke County Extension's 2019 Free Gardening Class Series. It will include an informative presentation on topics including how to maintain and manage your vegetable garden as well as select the right seasonal veggies so that your garden thrives.   • Apr 4 North Georgia Apple Grafting - afternoon Class Hands on training covering the science of grafting. Participants will be provided with all the materials needed to go home with 5 semi-dwarf apple trees that they grafted. This session will be from 2:00-4:30. Participants can bring their own scion material but should contact Josh Fuder at jfuder@uga.edu early, as material will need to be collected and stored prior to the class. Classes are limited to 30 people so early registration is required. Rootstock provided is G210 which has improved disease resistance, precocity, and typically a 45% size of a standard tree or 12-14' at maturity. Ball Ground, GA

  • Apr 13 MGEV of Coweta County Spring Plant Sale Coweta County Master Gardener Extension Volunteers’ Spring Plant Sale. Saturday, April 13th, 8:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. COWETA COUNTY FAIRGROUNDS AGRICULTURE BUILDING, 275 Pine Road, Newnan, GA. Tomatoes, peppers and herbs at excellent prices will be available. All plants for sale have been propagated or grown by MGEV’s. Proceeds support extension educational programs, 4-H scholarships, and scholarships for high school seniors.
