Upson County 4-H Events and Activities

Move Night

Bring your friends to the Upson County Extension Office for a free Movie Night on September 14th.

The movie for K-5th grade students will be from 3:30 to 6:00 and the movie for 6th-12th grade students will be from 6:00 to 8:30 pm.

Free admission, popcorn, and drinks!

We can’t advertise movie titles so call the 4-H office to register and to find out what movies will be showing!


County Council

County Council is the youth-led decision-making body of Upson County 4-H.

The primary purpose of the County Council is to serve as the youth voice of Upson County—you tell us how we can better serve the needs of youth in our community.

At County Council meetings, you can plan recreational events, service projects, fundraisers, and more.

The next meeting is September 25th from 5:00 to 6:30 pm.

Cooking 101

Sign up for Cooking 101 and you will learn how to: use MyPlate, avoid spreading germs while cooking, measure and mix ingredients, test baked goods for doneness, and set the table for a family meal.

Cooking 101 started in August and will continue until December. Cooking 101 groups meet once a month, on Club days.

Cloverbud Cooking 101 (K-3rd grade) is full but we still have a few places left in our Cloverleaf group (4th-6th grade).

We are also taking expressions of interest for a Middle/High School Cooking Class.

Cloverbud Club (Pre-K to 3rd grade) meets September 13th 3:30-5pm.

Cloverleaf Club (4th-6th grades) meets September 26th 3:30-5pm.

Cross Country Club

Upson County 4-H Cross Country Club is led by Junior 4-H’er Paige Lindsay with the assistance of certified volunteer leaders Mrs. Ashley Lindsay and Mrs. Genia Crenshaw.

We will meet on Saturdays*, starting September 15th, from 9am to 10am at the Walking Track on Civic Center Drive (behind the Middle school).

The club will be hosting a 5K in April 2019.

Bring a towel and a bottle of water.

Makerspace (STEM Club)

Are you interested in computer coding, robotics, engineering, or science?

Upson County 4-H Makerspace has limited vacancies for students in 1st-6th grade.

Our Makerspace is open on Mondays from 3:30 to 5pm at the County Extension Office.

Call the 4-H office to register.

Thanks to generous funding from Southern Rivers EMC we no longer charge a Materials/Resource Fee for our Makerspace program.


Wildlife Judging Team

Join our Wildlife Judging Team and learn about local wildlife from Coach Dennis Gore, retired Conservation Corporal.

Wildlife Judging practice will be held at the County Extension Office on August 14, 21, 28, September 4, 11, 18, 25, October 2, 9, and 16.

The Georgia 4-H Wildlife Judging  Competition will be at Rock Eagle 4-H Center on October 20th.

The Wildlife Judging Competition is for students in 5th-12th grade.


Horse Club

We will be joining Pike County 4-H’ers for Horse Club.

The first meeting will be September 17th from 5:30 to 6:30 at the Pike County Extension Office: 74 Gwyn St, Zebulon.

Meet at Upson County 4-H Office at 5pm if you need a ride, or meet us at the Pike County 4-H Office at 5:30.

Horse Club is for 4-H’ers in 5th-12th grade.

Fair Days

The Spalding County Fair will be Held October 6th-13th and the Georgia National Fair will be held October 4th-14th.

Current 4-H members are eligible to enter exhibits.

Sep 20 Northeast Georgia Invitational Livestock Judging Workout Forsyth, GA - (26.0 miles) Through the support of several local producers we will have 6-8 classes available as teaching aids for local coaches and livestock judging teams. The stock will be available from 5-7pm for coaches and teams to go through at their own pace. Official placings and class critiques will be provided at the conclusion. Schools are encouraged to register and bring student government members, club officers, or other emerging youth leaders.
