Toombs County 4-H Project S.A.F.E. Shotgun Team

The Toombs County 4-H S.A.F.E. Shotgun team has an outstanding tradition of providing top notch education and safety to youth as they participate in the Modified Trap division.  Optional events are offered in American Skeet, American Trap (16-yard), and Sporting Clays. It is open to all youth from 7th through 12th grades.


Mission


The focus of all 4-H programs is the development of youth as individuals and as responsible and productive citizens. The Toombs County 4-H Shotgun team allows our Youth to learn marksmanship, the safe and responsible use of firearms, and much more. The activities of the program and the support of caring adult leaders provide young people with opportunities to develop life skills, self-worth, and conservation ethics.

 


Membership


The Toombs County 4-H Shotgun Team is open to all youth in grades 7th-12th grade.  Youth must successfully complete the Georgia or another states Hunter Education course prior to enrolling. There are many course options.  Free course options are listed below.

  •  10 hour classroom course
  •  CD-ROM, then a scheduled 2-hour review to complete course certification. Hunter Education CD-ROM’s can be checked out from the Toombs County Extension Office.

Registration


The 2017 4-H Shotgun Team Orientation and first practice* will be held Saturday, February 25, 2017 at 1 PM at the Toombs County Ag Center, located behind Toombs County High School.

The program is open to grades 7-12 only.  The Hunter Safety Certification is required.**  Dues for 2017 are $125.00 Dues*** and include all shells, clays and registration fees.  Members also will receive a team shirt. You may pay in full at registration or pay $65 (Feb. 25, 2017) and $60 (April 2, 2017)

*Additional practices will be held on Sunday afternoons at the Ag Center from 2-4 PM beginning on Sunday, March 5, 2017.

**Hunter certification required by April 20, 2017

**Please plan to make payments at team sign up on February 25, 2017 and practice on April 2, 2017.  If you wish to make payments at other times, please visit the 4-H Office located at 200 Courthouse Square, Suite 4, Lyons, Georgia. 

Registration for 2017 will end March 12, 2017.

Please note there is no practice on Easter,  but we will hold a pre-district practice at a time to be announced.
