Lawn and Gardening Program

It’s the holiday season and I’m sure you are wondering what to get that special someone for Christmas. Well, how about something different and something to help break-up those winter blues? How does a Winter Lawn and Gardening program sound? McDuffie and Warren County Extension are thinking along those lines and will be offering just such a program. Here is a listing of the classes already scheduled: vegetable gardening, lawn and turf care, landscape design, soils and nutrition, plant pathology, entomology, nuisance wildlife, weeds and control, site selection planting and maintaining ornamentals. Instructors are Extension agents or experts in their field. Here are a few examples of the instructors we have lined up. Abra Lee is speaking on landscape design and helped to design the landscaping at Hartford-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. You all know author Sid Mullis, he has also agreed to help with this program with his presentation on ornamentals. There will be a lot of great information on topics that will make working on your next projects even more enjoyable. This program should be a great way to break up those winter blues, make some new friends and have some fun learning more about horticulture.

The classes are going to start Tuesday, January 30 and run every Tuesday until March 13. Meeting locations will be between The Warren County Extension Office and the Thomson- McDuffie County Library. Class will start at 6pm and will run approximately 2 hours. A complete schedule of the classes offered is on our website and Facebook page. The cost for this program is $75 which will cover all printed material and light refreshments. Space will be somewhat limited, so don’t delay! It will be a gift that I’m sure everyone would enjoy receiving. The deadline to sign up for this program is January 19, 2018.

If you have any questions or would like to sign up for this program, please feel free to contact the McDuffie County Extension Office at (706) 595-1815 or the Warren County Extension Office at (706) 465-2136.

You may print out a copy of the Lawn and Gardening Flyer to pass out to your family, friends and even co-workers too.
